Stump up for the better model, that has it's OS loaded, with a web interface, and you access it via web browser and tell it the IP of the phone system.

This is what we did, and I curse the waste of time we had when our supplier just picked the cheap Avaya IP Phones and didn't put more thought into it (they're supposed to do this for a living!).

Now I know as much as them in regards to setting up Avaya IP Phone systems!

This is entirely controllable on the main switch, they will not download their OS everytime unless the configuration of the switch demands they do.

I as so far have not been able to get a 46/56xx phone with VPN firmware to connect to a Draytek, everything I have read on the net suggests that the Vigors are not properly implementing the related RFC's. I currently have email access to some contacts at Avaya and I am trying to find out if Avaya have done any testing with Vigors.
