syslog with 5510 was created by bob123
hello

we have a new 5510 which seems to be working okay.

I can't get syslog to work. When I run syslog on my laptop the 5510 doesn't appear in the drop down even though I have the appropriate IP address in the syslog setup page in the router.

I have turned my laptop firewall off.

I have used syslog numerous times before.

Thank you for any advice

jeff

I'm fairly keen to get this working as there a couple of other things that I want to get working which require the syslog to diagnose.

for example, when the Intrusion detection is turned on it stops a few different things working and without syslog it's impossible to diagnose the cause.

No! Its bloomin' annoying isn't it?

Tech support at SEG have said that they are working on a new firmware version in Taiwan (or wherever it comes from) but I haven't heard anything for a little while.

I also have an issue where normal web browsing grinds to a halt after an indeterminate period, normally a few weeks or so, and I need to reboot it.

The syslog sometimes worked just by clicking OK a few times on the appropriate screen, ie if you asked it often enough it would eventually do it but that wasn't consistent at all.

I have tried on various W2000, XP, 2003 & 2008 machines.

I cant believe we are the only ones with this, I have logged it with Draytek support but they seem none the wiser either. For me this is a real deal breaker as I like a audit of all activity, and I cant see a problem when my 2820 and 2950 all worked fine.
I presume seeing it is an advertised feature that doesnt work I would be entitled to a refund.
