Configuring Draytek 2920 with Netgear DM111p was created by pj-c
Hi Guys,
Just got a new Draytek 2920 this week. We are planing to upgrade to BT Business fibre broadband within the next month so decided to get this implemented soon as to make transaction quicker.
I have no idea how to bridge the 2920 to the netgear modem. I can enter the details of our bt business broadband ok into the draytek ok and can configure other settings such as dns and nat but cant seem to get the internet connection to pass through.
I have upgraded firmwares on both devices to the latest on manufacturers websites. Below i have listed the i.p setup on the network
192.168.0.1 - Netgear DM111P
192.168.1.1 - Draytek 2920 (Defualt i.p)
192.168.0.2 - Netgear GS487T Switch
192.168.0.3 - SBS Server (Also DHCP Server)
192.168.0.28 - Sage Server
192.168.0.254 - Nortel BCM Phone System
Any advice would be much appreciated as im at a loss what to do next. If you need more info ill do my best to supply.
Kind Regards,
Patrick

It looks like you are going to run into subnetting problems. To save you changing the IP address of your Switch, SBS Server, Sage Server and Phone System, You are going to need to change the Draytek IP to the 192.168.0.0/24 subnet - say to 192.168.0.1. Then you'll get a clash between the Draytek LAN and WAN (Draytek and Netgear DM111P ), so before you do that, you'll need to change the IP address of the Netgear DM111P to another subnet.
While you are changing the Netgear DM111P subnet, also set it to PPPoE Bridging.
On the 2920 change the WAN type to PPPoE.
Note that when you change the subnet of the modem or router (especially the router) you may need to release and renew the IP address of the thing attached to it (generally the PC).

192.168.0.1 - draytek 2920 (PPPoE Enabled along with isp details - fixed i.p)
192.168.0.2 - Netgear GS487T Switch

That does not look too bad. Unfortunately I have no experience of ADSL except for what I have read.
One thing looks slightly odd is the Netgear NAT setting which I think should be off.
Should your VCI setting be 38 or 35? I thought it was 38 in the UK for normal ADSL/ADSL+/ADSL2 and, perhaps, 101 for one of their more fancy recent offerings.
Also, with these settings, from behind the Draytek can you access the Netgear using 192.168.1.1?

Hi NJH,
Ill try changing the VCI to 0-38 and turning the nat of on the DM111p to see if that makes a difference.I haven't tried accessing the DM111p from behind the Draytek ill try doing this tomorrow. One thing I did see on-line was weather to use LLC or VC MUX when setting up the bridge?
Thanks
Patrick

I don't know the correct answer, but I'd try VC-Mux first for a BT line then LLC.
