Excuse the newbie question but how do I manually assign ip address 192.168.1.20 through to 192.168.1.30 to each computer ? I wish to disable DHCP on the 2820n. On my Imacs and pc's I can do the manual configuration ok, but how do I configure this on vigor 2820n ?
I have set ip ad to start from 192.168.1.20 and in the ip pool counts box entered 10. I want to disable DHCP box, but what next? Do I need to bind the mac numbers to an ip and enable strict binding? Is it static routes I need to configure and if so how?

Scenario.....
I wish to assign Mac 1 192.168.1.20
....................... Mac 2 192.168.1.21
........................ PC 3 192.168.1.23
........................ PC 4 192.168.1.24

All computers manually configured

You could do this, yes.

The DHCP service would need to be running on your 2820n.

The binded MAC's to IP's are, a list of reservations

So you could have your range 192.168.1.20 - 30 with a mac address matched to each IP. Each device asking for an IP (i.e. the devices, PC's etc. are using DHCP rather than manual) will then be given your preferred IP to each PC.

If you enable Strict Bind, I think the manual says that if a new device is connected to the network, either by LAN cable, or Wirelessly, and the MAC is not in the list, then the Vigor won't allow the newly connected device to access the internet.

If you don't want to use DHCP on your network just turn it off in the router.

You will have to give the router it's own address on the LAN - may be 192.168.1.254

You will also need to configure you Macs and PCs with their own IP address as you have detailed, along with a default gateway address i.e. the address of your router if that's what connects to the Internet.

And the address of the DNS server/servers you wish to use.

Summary: -

* Either disable DHCP & configure static addresses on your 4 client PCs, but accept that it's a pain if you want to connect a new device.

Or,

* Enable DHCP, leave the clients on DHCP, bind the MAC address of your 4 clients to the desired IPs on the router, LAN >> Bind IP to MAC

Static routes are NOT needed for this.
