2820 Firmware update was created by bill potter
Hi
I have a Vigor 2820 ADSL 2/2+ router with the the following status:
System Status
Model Name : Vigor2820 series
Firmware Version : 3.1.3
Build Date/Time : Mar 3 2008 17:03:02
ADSL Firmware Version : 211801_A Annex A
What I want to do is update the firmware to 3.3.5.2 my questions are:
1. Does the ADSL Firmware Version need to be the same?
2. Which upgrade version should I use the "all" version whish keeps the configuration or the "rst" which resets to factory defaults?
Thank you

1. No it does not have to be the same. It can be a different code.
2. Under normal circumstances you should be OK using the .all upgrade file. If you notice anything strange reflash using the .rst file to wipe the configuration clean and re-configure from scratch. I assume you are doing this upgrade to eventually get to version 3.3.7.2?
I would always recommend taking a backup of the settings through the router web interface and also written out by hand just in case. If you make a backup through the router interface I would strongly advise against restoring it against a radically different firmware release.

Hi Latest firmware is: 3.3.7.3
Go to this pagehttp://www.draytek.co.uk/support/downloads.html and look right for your model
Read the release notes 3.3.7.3http://www.draytek.co.uk/support/download/readme_v2820.txt
To your questions
1) 3.3.7.3
with 3.3.5.2
If you don't want to update to latest 3.3.7.3 then just load direct the 3.3.5.2 you want is fine using rst* file
Is any specific reason you prefer the 3.3.5.2 firmware?
The ADSL driver will change according to firmwares
2)
In your case is IMPORTANT to use the RST* file. Check this thread when use rst* & all* files
http://www.forum.draytek.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=18178
Thanks and good luck

To your questions
1) 3.3.7.3
IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not upgrade directly from 3.3.5 (and earlier) to 3.3.7.3.
Due to differences in the Web UI and functionality the router MUST first be
upgraded to 3.3.5.2 prior to upgrading to 3.3.7.3.
Upgrade your router to Version 3.3.5.2 first, and afterward upgrade the router
to Version 3.3.7.3.

Thanks for the info.
When I browsed to the file (C:\Router\vigor_v3352\v2820_v3352_232201_A.rst) and click the Upgrade button I get the following message “Firmware file name is invalid, please check! â€. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong all I have done is extracted the zip to a folder and then told the router where the upgrade file is.
Thanks for your help

what i would suggest is:
First try with an other browser. It should work
If this not working try an other firmware from here
ftp://ftp.draytek.com/Vigor2820/Firmware/
but try one before the 3.3.5.2 (lets say 3.3.4 or 3.3.5) and then with the 3.3.5.2
Third
You can also download a fresh file from the same link in the case the previous download was corrupted

oh yeah, old old firmwares could only be updated using internet explorer lol, so use internet explorer and if that doesn't work, put that in compatibility mode
