Vigor 2830n losing connection to dns was created by philguk
Since mid March I've had a strange recurring problem

Every so often, as much as once or twice a day, my LAN seems to lose access to WHATEVER dns is specified in the router

I can pin 8.8.8.8, for example, but www.google.co.uk doesn't resolve to an IP address

Rebooting the router puts things right - until it happens again

Draytek have suggested upgrading the router firmware, but I wondered if anyone else had experienced the same problem?

Thanks

Phil G

Have you tried at Lan>General setup > to add manually there the dns servers? on exit Back to Lan>general setup tick the small box force router to use dns lan 1

Unfortunately it's always been set that way

Doesn't seem to help

have you disabled DoS? (disable / untick Enable UDP flood defense)
If this not help ask the support

Go to Diagnostics > DNS Cache Table, tick the "When an entry's TTL is larger than" tickbox and set the timer setting there to 5s, click OK. that might help?
Alternatively, DoS defense's UDP flood defense is another likely cause for that to happen

I don't have a "DNS Cache Table" entry under Diagnostics :(
