Configuring LAN1 and LAN2 / Draytek 2830 was created by cimservices
Hello,

I am trying to configure our Draytek 2830 to have two LANs. The first LAN has been configured and this is working without issue. When I configure the second LAN the router seems to consistently drop packets.

LAN1: 192.168.134.1
LAN2: 192.168.39.1

I have enabled VLAN and then selected with P1 being VLAN 0 and P2 being VLAN 1. VLAN 0 is pointing to the LAN1 subnet and VLAN1 is pointing to the LAN2 subnet.

A cable is plugged into LAN port 1 and goes into the 192.168.134.1 network and this works fine, however when I connect a cable to LAN port 2 and plug this into the 192.168.39.1 network, packets start to drop on both LANs. I am assuming something is not configured correctly but I cannot see what setting is maybe incorrect?

Many thanks,

Luke

Hi Luke,
Can you post a screenshot of the VLAN config page (and possibly the LAN >> General Setup page too) ?
Cheers
Simon

Hi,

I have the exact same issue with my 2830 router.

2x VLANS; VLAN0 works absolutely fine no issues. VLAN1 no internet access.

I wanted to set up VLAN1 as a small guest network and keep the traffic separate from VLAN0.

Not sure what the problem is. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tom

Slightly unhelpful...but I have this setup on a vigor 2860 and it works fine. How do you know packets are dropping - i.e. does some data get through?

For the second guy, can you access the router WUI from both PCs (on both subnets, on the two different router IP addresses) and also is the gateway/DNS set correctly ?

The setup looks correct to me, did you reboot after making the changes as I think LAN change require a reboot before takeing effect. What's plugged into P2 ? If it's a switch I'd check that it hasn't got a VLAN tag enabled on it. What happens if you plug a PC directly into P2 ?
