Morning.

I am unable to SSH to my Vigor 2862 from a remote subnet; my connection is immediately rejected.

Weirdly, I can browse the GUI / telnet / snmp to it from the same remote subnet, just not SSH.

The router is running firmware 3.9.7_BT

Is this by design or is it a bug?

Anyone know of a work around?

Cheers
M

remote subnet on the Wan side? What are the settings on management? SSH not enabled by default on WAN side. Guessing it is not WAN as telnet and snmp are working.

Remote subnet on the LAN side.

When I originally setup the 2862, I changed the LAN1 subnet from the default 192.168.1.1/24 to 192.168.0.1/24, as I had a lot of devices with static IP's assigned.

The requests (SSH,Telnet,SNMP) are coming from a machine on subnet 10.1.1.0/24, via another router on LAN1 (192.168.0.254). SSH fails, Telnet & SNMP are fine.

Any thoughts?

Cheers,
M

Maybe it's the configuration of the Router @ 192.168.0.254, that's the problem :?:

No, the other router is working just fine; as both Telnet and SNMP work from the same machine to the 2862.

I am 100% sure it's something in the 2862 config/management firewall rules, that is preventing SSH from the establishing from a remote subnet.

change the ssh port as it maybe the inbetween router is litening on 22 or some rule is getting in the way. changing to 30022 for example. Alternatively you can use ipperf to listen on 22 on a machine on that network when it is on a different port and see whether it receives traffic. Otherwise you are looking at wireshark to see what and where the traffic is going.
