Which wifi router to connect analogue phone? was created by Andyfr
Hi, which Draytek wifi router can I plug an analogue phone into? Does it need to be one of the VAC models or not?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Yes, only the “V” models have a built in analogue telephone adapter.
I experimented with a 2860Vn-plus when I was trying VoIP.
It worked well but in the end the model I wanted (the 2927) wasn’t available in the UK as a “V” model although some European suppliers sell it.

Hi Andy,
Any router with the "V" suffix has analogue a phone port (typically 1 or 2) on it which you can plug an analogue phone into. The router would then also support SIP and could register with a VoIP telephone service provider who supports SIP.
For example, the V2865Vac has a VoIP port and the V2865ac does not.

Hi Sami
Thanks for your reply. My ISP supplied wifi modem/router came with a converter dongle and I was hoping that it would be possible to use something like that with a Draytek.
I have an old Draytek 2860 which I use as a WAP at the moment, ideally I would like to have a new Draytek router as the main one as I like the configuration and control options available.
From what I can see there are only the 2865Vac and 2866Vac which have phone ports, is that correct?
Regards
Andy.

Hi Andy,
As well as the 2865Vac and 2866Vac there also is the 2766Vac and 2765Vac. Both of these have 2x RJ-11 PSTN Telephone Ports. Which is the same ports as the 2865Vac and 2866Vac.
Hope this helps!

If the "dongle" is just a lead then one of the Vac routers would be good.
I assume that the ISP router is a Fritzbox or similar and the ISP will provide the credentials for the voice service.
If it's the BT/EE router you won't get anywhere with a Draytek for a phone service as only their router works with the BT/EE Digital Voice service.
