Anyone else bought an AP902? was created by piste basher
Instead of another AP900 I decided to go for an AP902 as it offers AC.
Unfortunately Draytek appear to have released this to market with somewhat flaky firmware, they themselves post this:-
- First release
[Known Issues]
1. 5GHz Wireless Channels currently supported are 36 to 48
2. Dynamic Frequency Selection (support for channels 52-64 and 100-140) will be added in a later firmware release
I can live with that but my AP902 has other issues - most annoying for me is that it does not recognise the VLAN tag on my Guest network and insists on assigning an IP from LAN1 to Guests instead of from LAN2. The AP900 has no problems with this. Secondly, the AP902 will not join the "central management" pool from the 2860 - the boxes are ticked but it just doesn't work.
There is no facility to turn off the LEDs as there is with the 900. There may be other issues that I have not discovered yet.
So my question is, is my AP902 faulty or is it the first release firmware and "they're all like this"?

I just installed my first one! Nothing to report as of yet, I swapped out a 900 for it.
No issues as of yet!

Thanks, I've raised a ticket with Draytek support and am waiting for their response. Do you use VLAN tagging on yours? Were you hoping for Band Steering and LED switch off as in the 900? They don't seem to be present either.

By the sound of things you use these to a much greater depth than me, I'm still learning! Annoying about the LEDs as I always turn mine off especially in bedrooms!
Unsure about the other things you mentioned...

Thanks guys, support have responded - 1st issue was my own stupidity, I'd forgotten about having to change the password for the 2860 to see the 902......
They are looking into my VLAN problem. Band steering should be available in the next firmware release which should soon be on the UK site also. I'll give that one a go Voodle in the meantime.
LEDs are a pain in some places so hopefully they'll get round to that sometime.
