Converting your original Vigor 2760 (Linux) model to DrayOS

Products:
Vigor 2760
Keywords:
2760
DrayOS
Firmware
Linux

The Vigor 2760 used a Linux based platform (operating system) until approximately June 2014. Since then, it has shipped with a new DrayOS operating system; this makes its O/S and web interface consistent with most of our other routers. The specifications are similar (the official specification of the Vigor 2760 is here).

The two platforms are not interoperable - you cannot load a DrayOS firmware or configuration backup into a Linux unit or vice versa.

Both platforms continue to be supported and there should be no need to want to change to DrayOS if you have Linux. We recommend against conversion. The Vigor2760 is a stable and reliable product and should continue to give you good service.

If you still really do wish to convert then we can provide instructions on how to do this; even though we are not recommending users upgrade, for those users who will do it anyway, we can at least try to make it easier and reduce the chances of problems.

Important Warnings - Read thoroughly

Before attempting an upgrade, it's important that you understand and agree to the following:

  1. Conversion is at your own risk but you'll reduce any risk by reading all of this page thoroughly.
  2. You may not pass the instructions or files that we send you to anyone else.
  3. Conversion is a one-way process. You may prefer the original interface/OS, method of operation or feature set. Once you convert, you cannot go back (see 'specification' section below).
  4. If your conversion is interrupted (e.g. a power cut, PC crash etc.) or there’s a previously unknown NVRAM problem/incompatibility or some other problem occurs, you may make your unit permanently inoperable.
  5. All existing settings of your router will be lost; you will have to set the router up from scratch so ensure that you have a note of everything you need before you start the process including ISP username/passwords etc.
  6. If you don’t understand all of the steps fully, don’t start the process. You should be a technically proficient network engineer/SysAdmin.
  7. The instructions and files are for users in the UK/Ireland using hardware supplied in that region. Hardware and products elsewhere may be different and unsuitable. Please refer to your local dealer.

Vigor 2760 DrayOS Specification

The web interface of DrayOS will appear different (but not totally) compared to the Linux version, however there is both a new manual and quick setup guide to help you. A Vigor 2760 operating DrayOS supports only the features shown on this page. It does not support various features of the higher end DrayOS models, notably Load-Balancing, WAN failover, VPN dial-in, VPN-Trunking, SSL VPN and IP-Routing(Non-NAT) etc.
