DrayTek VigorAP access points can turn off their indicator LEDs either on a schedule or permanent basis, which can be useful in environments where the LED indicators would not be necessary, or where the LED indicators of the AP would be unsuitable to leave on at night.

Disabling the LEDs on a Schedule

This example will show how to configure the LED state on the VigorAP so that they are only active during 08:00 to 18:00 and not any other times.

To set up scheduling on the access point, it is first necessary to set the time on the access point; this is configured from [System Maintenance] > [Time and Date].

On that page, select the Use NTP Client button, tick Enable Daylight Saving and click OK to apply the change. Click Inquire Time to check whether the router now has the correct time, this can take up to 30 seconds to get the correct time.

Please note that the access point must have internet access for this to work - if the AP has a static IP set, it also needs a working Gateway IP configured from the [LAN] > [General Setup] section.

To set up the scheduling, go to [Applications] > [Schedule], on that page, tick Enable Schedule then click OK so that the schedule options are available.

Once that has applied, click the Add button to continue.

This schedule entry will be used to turn off the LEDs at the specified time:

The Start Date can be ignored unless it needs to begin on a specific date.
The Start Time should be set to 18:00.
The Action should be set to LED DISABLE.
Set the Acts to Routine to enable the Weekday settings.
Under the Weekday selection, select all of the days.

Click OK to save that schedule entry and click Add to make another schedule entry.

This schedule entry will be used to turn the LEDs back on at the specified start time:

The Start Date can be ignored unless it needs to begin on a specific date.
The Start Time should be set to 08:00.
The Action should be set to LED ENABLE.
Set the Acts to Routine to enable the Weekday settings.
Under the Weekday selection, select all of the days.

Click OK to save that schedule entry.

The scheduling will now be in effect on the access point - the schedules will only take effect at the start time of each schedule entry so the LEDs will not go on/off immediately after setting this up.

With this setup, the LEDs on the AP will only be active between 08:00 to 18:00.
