The Windows Telnet utility is commonly used for diagnostics on the Vigor routers. From Windows Vista, Telnet is no longer available by default. To enable it, follow these steps:
- Click the Windows Start button
- Select Control Panel
- Select Programs or the Programs and Features icon
- Select Turn Windows Features On or Off from the bar on the left
- In the Windows Features box, locate 'Telnet Client' in the list, enable it, and click 'OK'.
- Wait until Windows finishes adding the feature, this can take a few minutes.
The Telnet utility will now be available from the Windows command prompt.
