draytek 2860n snr / codinggain was created by dhallam56
hi im currently using a billion 7800n but have acquired a draytek 2860n that im going to replace it with as I will be getting fibre after Christmas and wanted an all in one solution.
currently I have the billion set at 2dB snr as I have a very good line. now I have tries via telnet to change this via the codinggain command but the command doesn't work as it looks like its not a valid command. Then I found the adsl snr command. I have tried setting this to 3db with the command: adsl snr 3 this the states is complete successfully then reboots the adsl connection.
But this doesn't seem to set anything as it just stays at my isp configured 6db.
anyone got any info on why this doesn't work, or is a other firmware needed?
im currently on the latest from the website which is 3.7.4.1
cheers for any advice

EDITED all post
Note i think you can only change from -50 to +50 or in other words only 5 db up/down (1 db of snr at each 10 value)
That how works with my 2760 delight firmware .. i think is the same for the 2860
so you should add " adsl snr -30" if you want 3 db less
if accepting the command snr it should work ... if does not take affect could be be telnet firmware issue
try the beta here

Have applied the beta firmware and tried the telnet command adsl snr -30 I still get the message that its completed successfully, it then reboots the adsl modem but my snr stays at 6db.
not too sure what's going on as in theory it should do what the telnet command is instructing it.
Its odd as in the product details for the 2860n it states that it has configurable snr

It was the same with my 2760 , 3.7.5.1 (earlier firmware) did not had affect, now is working
I am sure snr change is supported but is a telnet issue bug
I would suggest to email the support to let them be aware for future fix
IIn mean time i have a suggestion if will work
adsl snr -30
should say adsl is rebooting (not the modem)
Even if is not taking affect now type ... adsl save cfg
That should keep in memory the change if the modem reboot manually or due to dc
Now make a manual reboot and see if has effect ... if not you need to email the support to be aware, they may have newer beta by now
Thanks for reporting the 2860 has this feature (even if not taking effect due to bug), i may go for it in the future

Hi just tried that and still not taking effect so I have mailed support to see if they can shed any light.
I put in adsl snr -30
then it came up Restarting ADSL modem.....
it was still 6Db SNR I then did adsl save cfg
it came up with: %Xdsl cfg Save OK!
I rebooted and still 6DB SNR
hope support can help me out.
cheers, I will post any findings or workarounds.
