Draytek 2860 Firmware Update Query was created by dasuni
Hi Guys

We have a Draytek 2860n+ which we need to update to the latest firmware released.

http://www.draytek.co.uk/support/downloads

Firmware 3.7.8 (for VDSL users)
Firmware 3.7.8 (for ADSL users)

12 Jan 2015

I see that the firmware is now split between ADSL and VDSL options. Obviously the device is capable of doing both options but the question here is:

Why did Draytek split the functions of the firmware as it's always been one package?
If we did the VDSL firmware update, would it still offer backward compatibility with ADSL? This would be preferred.

Any clarity or advice would be appreciated.

Regards,
Shaun

I don't know why draytek have split it ... perhaps because each one has different modem codes

To your question any firmware of them 2 will have fall back to adsl or you can use both for adsl
It just which one will work better for you line (see modem code link from draytek)

The vdsl should have some more extra line stats
Are few threads in the forum here, can search it by typing vector
here i have one as example

My opinion use the one suite your line better .. both will do adsl
