Vigor 130 slower sync speed was created by fritzog
My internet is my eternal bane.
I am on SKY super fast FTTC (1.7km away so pretty much at max distance for this). I have used various router/modem combinations, they all are unstable and require frequent resets for total connection loss.
Prior to using a Vigor 130 the max speeds D18 U0.5 this was both on a decent ASUS or the sky q router to my UDM.
Plugging in the Vigor my connection is far more stable the issue is that I am syncing at D13 only U0.5.
I have tried to change the firmware to the alternate version that is supposed to be better for the cabinet down the road, this just led to me being unable to connect at all.
Any advice would be appreciated (also the line from the cabinet is pristine as openreach did a lot of work to it after it went down last September)

I know the real answer is FTTP but the quote is eye watering.

Your lucky BT/OpenReach allowed the connection, you are only just above the limit that makes FTTC pointless.
You have interleaving on both down and upstreams, that is caused by line issues/interference. The line is never going to deliver anything more than you see now unless it becomes stable and even then it will be a small increase. The more changes of modem/disconnects the lower your speed will get.

The DrayTek modem will always defer to stability versus speed . You either have a line that is faster but is unstable/crashes or one that is slower , stable and usable.

Thanks for the reply. It is pretty much as I expected but just hoped I was missing something. Just hope the new rural FTTP scheme coming next month makes it worthwhile.

If you can connect to FTTP you'll see a whole new world ))

If you won't be connected soon then you need to call Sky and complain about the constant problems, they should get OpenReach to visit to correct the line issues.

They have been many times and did a lot of work last September. They claim the line is as good as it can be.

Full fibre is the aim but at nearly £4000 per household it is a bit too rich for my neighbours taste.
