Hi All,

My 2820 was working fine for VOIP calls, but then it developed a problem, that after a few minutes, you would hear a noise like a button being pressed on the phone and could not hear each other anymore.

I would need to put the phone down, pick it up again, hear the noise was still there, put the phone down, pick it up the second time and the noise woudl be gone, so that I could make calls again.

As I thought the problem was with the other user, I changed their Vigortalk with a new Cisco PAP2T and even got another one for my friend.

Problem happened again with both of them.

But, if I call my in laws that have the old 2800, this does not happen!!

Any ideas anyone?

thanks

ah, so it may indeed be a firmware issue then, I will try and revert back to a previous firmware, or does anyone know how to flag this up to Draytek support. Let me try and email them this post.

here is what I have sent them:

Hi There,

I have noticed a problem when calling another voip (using draytel), both on a vigor talk or the Cisco PAPT, after a minute, sometimes 5 minutes, when spekaing with someone a long beep will appear on our side, not on the other side, so the 2820 makes a long beep noise. We put down the phone, pick it up, still hear the beeping noise, put down the phone again, pick it up, beeping noise goes away, we call again and the situation happens once more, here below are more details and of another user encountering the problem.

This seems to have appeared after the last firmware, can you please assist.

thanks
Sab

Response to support draytek:

I downloaded the latest firmware, did a RST install, configured for internet access and telephone and I am afraid the problem still happens.

So when I call from my 2820vn to another draytek router 2800, it works fine, but when I call from my 2820 to a Cisco PAPT or Vigortalk, after a couple of minutes of talking, the constant beep noise comes on.

This has happened now for a few months, since I did the last firmware update, I am only raising it now, as I have done lots of tests to finally see it is a problem with the router and now when someone else on the forums confirms to have the same problem, I have raised the ticket.
