So what is DrayOS? Is it unix-like? Linux derivative? Written from the ground up?

Extremely useful: Draytek Syslog from Router Tools and Wireshark (previously Ethereal).

I too would like to see open source firmware for Draytek. So what are these 'commercial downsides' of open source software?

Bump! So come on Admin, what's your problem with open source software?

If a manufacturer put lots of resources (i.e. cash) in to developing a proprietary operating system for their router product, it doesn't make commerical sense for them to release that into the to the community for a competitor to pick up and create rival products.

Personally, I'd love to see DrayOS released to (and fixed by!) the general public but I don't think it's going to happen.
