Vigor 2900Gi - Occasional slow ping PC - Router was created by barbel
Hi,
recently I've been experiencing short outages in my Internet connection. After consulting with my ISP (fixed wireless (static IP), they report unbroken contact to and no packet loss from my device), I pinged the Vigor whenever these slow periods / outages occur, and the ping suddenly goes from an average of 0 ns to up to 600 ns and timeouts.
The ping is run from a pc connected by cable to the router, but the effect is across the entire local network (2 PCs (1 wired, 1 wireless) and 1 laptop (wireless).
Does that mean the router is starting to fail (it has worked flawlessly for the last 4 1/2 years)?
Any advice is appreciated.
TIA

Replied by brannan on topic occasional slow ping times on a 2800VG
We are getting exactly the same thing with our 2800VG:
Connect the router to one PC only and run "ping /t" on its IP address.
Pings are <1ms for a minute or so and then suddenly we get a slow ping... maybe 500ms.
Obviously the router is doing some occasional internal processing which is slowing it down.
Any idea what this is? Is there something we can switch off?
Pls help ... its causing our VOIP over VPN to drop out.
Cheers!
