Vigor 2600 to 2820 upgrade was created by applerulesok
Hi,
Has anyone successfully backed up the config of a 2600 and been able to restore said config file to a 2820 ? This particular 2600 router has 6 VPN's hanging off it so I'd like to find an automated method of taking over all our 2600 settings to the new 2820.
thanks in advance,
Sandy

So far as I know, config backups can only be restored to models of the same type. I don't think 2600 to 2820 is going to work.

Cheers for that Iain, Draytek have just confirmed that to my colleague also. Shame there isn't a means of stripping the VPN details out for the new router

We managed to copy the config from a 2600 to a 2800.
There were some things that didn't work but it got quite a lot of it.
Give it a go - I wouldn't have thought it could do any harm.

The 2820 runs DrayOS 3.0 - I think the 2800 was 2.x which is why it probably worked.
I'd never recommend restoring configs from one router series on to another - it could lead to all sorts of issue.

We have numerous 2600 and all of which have differing VPN's and other settings. Most of the settings have been setup on an-ad hoc basis and ther eis no documentation.
We are going to upgrade all of out sites to 2820's
Is there way, using Telnet for example to dump all of the settings from the 2600 down to a file which we can then use to either Telnet upload to a 2820 or use the information to manually update the settings in the 2820's
