I was looking to buy a 2930Vn, but it would not be in a cabinet , in fact it could be within earshot of my wife
I was wondering if anyone had information about its noise levels during use? Does it have a fan, if so is it always on? (as a comparsion i would classify the 2950 as fairly noisy - the fan is in constant use and therefore not suitable outside a cabinet - or in earshot)

Also does the 2930 run hot - is ventilation an issue, if not actively cooled?

the 2930 is the little brother of the 2950 but its fanless so silent.

You're not wrong about the noise on the 2950. I bought this router, and whilst I love almost everything about it, the fan noise is louder than my PC. I have to shut the door on the room it's in at night to baffle the noise !

If anyone has any ideas if/how/should/could the fan be turned down I'd be grateful.

That just leaves two items on the wish list for this product:

More Gigabit LAN ports
LAN port aggregation

Then I'll be happy !
