I have just bought a 2820 and the rack-mount.
Anyone know how the two fit together ??

It appears that the router will only sit with the power input to the front and have all 4 rubber feet in the hole.

The other way round and it doesn't fit in the hole at all.
How is it supposed to be fixed to the plate ??

Is there something missing from the kit (it was just the bit of bent metal in the box) ?

The power cable goes tot he back and the LAN sockets at the front.

Then place the rack mount on the floor and slide the modem into the rack fro above. You will see some grills in the side of the modem the rack fits between the 1st set of these grills.

I think we are talking about a different bit of equipment here. The rack mount is simply a plate with a hole in the base and two "wings" bent up at 90 degrees forming the front with Draytek stamped on the right hand side.

The tray is silver in colour.

The 2820 does not sit in the hole when the power cable is at the back.
I think I have the wrong bit ... is there a photo somewhere ?

No, I have a 2820 too.

Place the rack mount on the floor and hold the modem in both hands from above.

With the LAN sockets at the front of the router and the draytek logo at the front of the rack mount slide the modem onto the rack mount between the grills in the side of the router.

Or in other words slide the two folded up bits of the rack mount kit into the grills in the side of the router. The rack mount bracket fits into the modem.

This would be much easier with a picture!

Pictures would be a great help, but I understand why they are not allowed.

If I understand you correctly this would mean that the 2820 sits proud of the rack mount ?

Sticking out the front, stopping the door from closing and offering a handy loop of cable to snare innocent passers-by ???

Shouldn't stop a door from closing, it only about 1-2cm in front of the plate and normally there would be much more space used up by a 24 port switch after the ethernet cables have been plugged in.
