We do not recommend that firmware for the UK; wait until the next firmware is on www.draytek.co.uk

Does that mean we are getting a newer "better" version thats UK specific?because it's strange then that the text on the international site states "AnnexA is used for modem code 232201 (Recommended for the UK ) "

It means that the UK engineers are aware of the VPN issue and don't recommend it. The UK engineers test firmware thelsevles before releasing it in the UK.

Version 3.3.2.1 now available for download on the international download site. This apparently resolves the instability problems mentioned above.
