2820 Lost dial tone was created by unwise1
Seems so simple, all worked well for months then phone plugged into analogue outlet on adsl filter stopped working. Tried phone on another line, it was ok. Tried a different filter, same result when 2820 plugged into filter dial tone disappeared. Tried a different lead from filter to 2820, same result. Unplugged original lead at 2820 end and dial tone reappears.
Plugged a Draytek 110 in instead of 2820 and no loss of dial tone.

Seems to be something has changed about the 2820, but what? It connects to BTbroadband just as well as it ever did?

Any other ideas before I start pursuing a warranty claim?

Howard,

thanks for the suggestion, will give it a go. But what about the result when another modem is used? That is all works perfectly with another modem.

Having been busy chasing this fault, so I have only just noticed that WAN2 has failed, the WAN light glows on the 110 but there is no connection according to the 2820. All has been going down WAN1 via BT despite the original reported problem. Checks with Pipex for the WAN2 line show no faults and switching to an old 2600 shows WAN2 broadband is working perfectly. So expect the problem is an oddly dying 2820

Will post results when sorted

Well the 2820 behaves exactly the same on another line at a different site with a different telco, so its down to the modem part of the 2820.

Sounds like the modem got fried by lightning I also had that on a 2600G

Howard,

the modem is not dead it works as well as ever for broadband. It's just that when in plugged in there is no dial tone on the analogue output of the filter
