Using a 2820VSN as a Fax modem? was created by mshaw
I have just installed a new 2820VSN in our office network.
As this broadband router seems to be able to do everything other than make toast, my question is 'can it be used as a fax modem with Server 2003 R2 or 2003 SBS?'
Is so how would I configure it?
Thanks
Mike

I wouldn't have thought so.
I can't see how an ADSL router could do that as the "phone" bit of the phone line is filtered out by the micro-filter, so it would only get the ADSL bit.

or have I misunderstood !

You have misunderstood, but it still can't be done as the Vigor does not have an old fashioned modem (as opposed to an ADSL modem which is completely different).

FWIW, the ADSL output on a micro-filter is unfiltered. It is only the phone side which is filtered to get rid of the irritating background noises.
