2820N - no local Netbios was created by jchapman
I have recently replaced a BTHomeHub with a 2820N. I use an apple iMac on the internal network with a few XP/Vista PCs. With the BTHomeHub, devices on my network, such as ip camera, NAS device, network printer, could be referred to by their network name in the Mac, same as on the PCs. Since switching to the 2820N, the PCs still can use the network names. but the Mac has to use the ip address. Trying to log in to the home page of the printer/NAS or camera using the network name results in a 404 or a full internet serach, depending on browser options.

I need the 2820N because of it's vastly superior VPN capabilities, so don't want to switch back. Any ideas anyone?

I am sure there is a rule in the firewall settings for the data that stops netbios but if you are getting to machines ok via windows PCs then this is quite odd.

I dont know anything about MACs so cant advise on its settings.
