2820 & bridging was created by orlovsky
Hi,
I've got a 2820 arriving tomorrow (replacing an awful speedtouch), and just wanted to ask for a few pointers..
1> How would I go about bridging 2 internal networks? My phoneline is in one room, along with a desktop, where as the rest of my network (xbox, nas, etc) are in another room, connected via a VigorPlug 200AV, and a wrt54gl (running open-wrt) What I'd like to be able to do, is access the nas from the desktop in the backroom.
2> Having a quick look through the UG for the 2820, I saw a brief mention of it being open for telnet, ftp, etc. How easy is it to block access to these from the wan?
Thanks,
Tony.

Assuming all your devices are on the same subnet (IP range) then you shouldn't need to do any bridging.
I assume you have a pretty standard setup, so if you just replace the speedtouch with the 2820 it should all work.
(I am assuming your wtg54gl is being used just as a wireless access point)
FTP ports etc are closed from the WAN by default, but they're easy to change in the web interface.

Easy to answer 2> first . In system maintenance >management setup, ftp/telnet etc are disabled from the internet by default, unless you explicitly allow them, so no worries there.
regarding your network, I think the following would work;
At the PC end;
Desktop plugged in to port 1 on the Draytek
AV plug plugged in to port 2 on the Draytek
At the NAS/Xbox end;
AV plug plugged into one port on the Linksys
Rest of kit plugged into other Linksys ports (unless wireless)
general setup
Enable DHCP server on the Draytek
Disable DHCP server on the Linksys
Enable all devices, PC and Linksys as DHCP clients
Restart all devices except Draytek to get new IP
Login to Draytek to check DHCP allocations
Done!

sbv3000, you were spot on.
I had to move the wan port on the dd-wrt (Nice and easy, thanks openwrt!) into the main vlan, but it looks like everything's shipshape!
Thanks again to both of you for your help.
