Smart Monitor - Error was created by info@jlcit.com
I have a PC with the smart monitor software plugged into port 4 on a Vigor 2820.
Port 4 has been configured for sniffing (see below)
Port 3 has teh rest
> port sniff status
Port sniffer is ON
sniffer port : P4
tx/rx port : P3
PS, sniffer port will be isolated with router.
Therefore, sniffer port can't do any internet access.
The smart monitor PC has the firewall turned off. I can browse to the smart monitor webpage but i get this message.
Detecting Vigor Router...
1.Cannot monitor for no Vigor Router detected.
Please check your network enviroment.
2.Please confirm that the firewall has been closed.
Has anyone has this issue? I had it on another PC so I restarted the apache service on the monitoring server and it worked temporarily
ANy help is greatly appreciated.

Although not tried it as I dont have one anymore, the latest firmware for the 2820 mentions stuff about smart monitor and adding a web gui item for the port mirror - I would try that first and see if it fixes the problem.

I have the same problems.
What seems to happen,
Enable mirroring on port 4 for example, then port 4 does not do alot apart from mirror info from the other ports.
Ok this is fine just let the smartmonitor do its stuff and collect the data, but you can actually view the data its collected because the port its connected to in in monitor mode so the software an not see the router.
Turn off mirroring on the 2820 and hey presto smartmonitor can see the router again and it will then let you look at all the data its collected.
Does this seem to be what everybody elese is getting ?
Model Name : Vigor2820
Firmware Version : 3.3.3_232201

Im working fine now.
The fix for me could have been a couple of things.
1. Mirror port 1 (i was mirroring port 2 previously)
2. Enable the mirrored port from a different machine other than the SmartMonitor PC. As when you turn on mirroring from the monitor port on the draytek it enables mirroring and then stops the port from making data connections, Problem is the router brings up a reboot request once you have turned on the mirroring but you dont see this because the port has already gone into mirror mode.
Hope this makes some sense ? !
I think point 2 is prob why it was not working for me but can test any further today as cant take the interweb down today.
