Trouble flashing 2800VG was created by jackwade
I'm getting the notorious 'timed out' message when attempting to update the firmware of my 2800VG from 2.6.3.1 to 2.8.2 using the Firmware Upgrade Utility and the .all file.

I've tried the usual solutions - assigning the cabled PC a static IP address and turning off the Windows XP firewall - but it makes no difference.

I'm considering trying an FTP update, but I do not have a static WAN IP from my ISP - could that cause problems?

Any suggestions would be welcome, thanks.

Is the 2800vg going into tftp mode? (first two lights flashing simu)

If not, try putting it into TFTP mode manually by turning it on while holding the reset button down and then send the file using the utility.

I wouldn't try the FTP upgrade method, just work out why the standard upgrade using the utility isn't working.

Great! I did the thing of putting it into TFTP mode manually, and it worked. Thanks for the help!
