2600 Settings Backup - No Password was created by abbos
Hi Everyone,

I have a difficult problem to resolve. A very close friend (techie) has just passed away and his wife is having issues with the Internet at home.

It looks like the issue may be the vigor as it's full of dust and quite hot. I want to replace the device but don't know the management password for the box.

I can't afford to lose the settings as there is a home Exchange server that a few people connect to as well as VPN.

My questions are:

1. Is there anyway to reset the password without resetting the device backup to factory defaults?

2. If the answer to the above is No, is there anyway of backing up the current device settings without the password?

I remember using TFTP mode years ago but in all honesty I've not touched one of these boxes in a while so am not sure.

Thanks in advance.

I am not sure you can get into the router with the password. I have reset my 2600 before and that wipes out the config. That may be your only option. Otherwise just wipe off the dust, switch off when not in use and leave it alone if it works.
