VPN and IP addressing Issues was created by stottle
Hello All,

This is my first experience of a DrayTek router so please stick with me.

Its a 2600 and we have setup User Profiles in 'Remote User Profile Setup (Teleworker)' and we are using the VPN client that comes with XP.

We are able to connect, but we can't access any other computers. An ipconfig on the XP machine running the VPN client shows

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.202
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.202

Is the problem coming from the subnet mask as it appears to be in its own network of 1 computer? Where is this setup on the router if so?

Under the 'PPP General Setup' there is 'IP Address Assignment for Dial-In Users' which we have set at 192.168.1.200, but thats all i can find.

Thanks in advance
stottle

Can you do an "ipconfig /all" on the Teleworker's PC? Check that its own local subnet is not the same as the 2600's.

Generally if you are planning to use VPN's I wold plan to keep the 2600 off common subnets (192.168.0.0/24, 292.168.1.0/24, 192.168.10.0/24, 192.168.11.0/24 and 192.168.100.0/24) as it is fundamentally important that both ends of the tunnel are on different subnets.

Hi NJH, thanks for your response

I think you maybe on to something as the IP address of the Teleworker's PC is 192.168.1.4 and so both the Local and VPN connections are on the same subnet.

I will change the Teleworker's PC tonight and try again tomorrow

Many Thanks

If you are going to get into VPN's, in the long term, you'd do better to change the 2600's subnet so this problem does not recur.
