I need to update firmware for Draytek Vigor 2820 on a remote site, so I have 2 questions:


1. Will the config be retained or will it be reset to default one?
2. If config is restored to default one after firmware update, will I be able to restore backed up configuration remotely?

1. If you use the .all file, it will just update the firmware specifically, the .rst firmware will restore the factory config.
2. You can do this, but obviously you'd need to get it online somehow with default settings, quite awkward to do remotely.

setup rdp to a pc on the remote lan and run the .all update from that. after reboot you should be able to reconnect once one of the wan links comes back up.
other option is go to my pc. that will reconnect automatically once the wan is up.
