I'm sure this doesn't matter but thought i'd ask anyways.

I have my 120 performing slowly unfortunately (see other post for that) connected via my airport extreme router. I have to put a username and password in for PPPOE connection to my 120 modem.

With my old netgear i would only require putting

<username>@bt....

in as the user, with an empty password.

However trying to put the empty password in was just failing to connect.. In the end i added pass as the password, just wondering if it just had to be non-empty and bizarrely it actually then worked.

I'm wondering if this is being passed through to BT, and whether the password which i shouldn't actually be listing could be causing some problems with my connection/speed?

Any other bt user come across this, or is it likely to do nothing?

Cheers

Hi Jim,

I'm not with BT but a friend is and I don't think it matters what you enter in the password, it is simply ignored, I found this out when we changed my friend's router. Entering no password can be an issue with the application that has a password field and is expecting something.

Have you tried resetting the Vigor 120 back to factory defaults? My new unit filed to connect at all until I reset it.

Regards Alan
