2820n syslog failure was created by keith wicks
Hi all
I'm new to router's although fairly IT literate.
I've just replaced an old router with the above.
I tried running syslog on my desktop which is remote from the router.
Yesterday it was fine and I watched various perameters to see if there was anything of interest.
Today I try to have another look and i get an error message
Runtime Error
Program c:\draytek\syslogRd.exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
Anyone any ideas where I go to resolve this. I've tried reinstalling it.
Thanks
Keith

If you've got syslog 4.2.0, you'll need to get 4.2.1 from the Draytek UK downloads page, that should fix the error.

I've got 4.2.1; it was working, but now doesn't see the router, although a Wireshark/Ethereal session (on the same PC) does...

Thanks both, i've down loaded new version and now have another error!
Although it does still seem to be reporting OK, if I change view tab this message comes up each time.

SetPage Code = 80004005
Meaning = Unspecified error
Source = Microsoft JET Database Engine
Description = Disk or Network Error
OK

Now that doesn't bother me too much as it seems to be working.

But if you like having your brains tested try this one.

I have a LAN for the business computers and a wireless network for the hotel guests. These both connect to the internet through this router. I need to restrict access to most internet sites from a oouple of computers on the works network as they are being abused by staff. However several other users (Directors etc) are permitted unrestricted internet usage as are hotel guests on the wireless set up. The wireless runs through its own router which is on the main network. I think this is called an access point. I don't want to stop any traffic on the wireless. I guess there is some way perhaps involving individual pc ip addresses? When you answer this bear in mind I'm new to routers although fairly IT profficient otherwise.

With that setup, I think you'd need to use the Bind IP to MAC feature under the LAN menu to put the different IP addresses in different ranges, along with changing the DHCP start IP and pool count so that new addresses won't be in the same range.
Then you can set up firewall rules for the web content filter / URL content filter to block access for the specific IP ranges.
