"Older" 2820's overheating? was created by iancg
I've got a 2820Vn from May 2008 - until recently it has been fine - however since upgrading my ADSL from 8Mbps to 16Mbps with faster upstream (about 1.8Mbps) it periodically overheats. I've stood a desk fan in front of it - and that solves the problem (if ugly and noisy).

A friend has one that he got a few months ago (on my recommendation!), and the slots on the top are noticably larger. About 1 to 2mm. On mine they are little more than a hairline.

I'm thinking of enlarging the slots on mine, but am wary of damaging any components near them.

Has anyone had any similar problems/found neater solutions?

Has anyone opened the case on their 2820 - if so how do you get it open? Is it plastic clips or screws (under the rubber feet)?

Thanks in advance...
