Connecting an ESXi server to a 2820n was created by rhoades-brown
Hi

I am just about to purchase a 2820n, connecting it’s gigabit port to a ESXi 4 server. In this configuration, I want to configure 2 VLANs in a trunk on the gigabit port.

I have a range of IP addresses, and would like to have one VLAN for internet facing IP addresses and the other for a NAT’ed internet range (192.168.0.x for example).

My questions are-
- If I configure 2 VLANs on the same port, will the Draytek tag them properly?
- Will the router NAT and pass through the internet IP’s at the same time?
- Can anybody see any issues with this kind of configuration?

Kind Regards,

Mark

Hi All,

Just as a follow up to this, what I think I really need to know is, does the Draytek tag the packets with VLAN information, and if it does how can you control which ports it tags, and which ports it dosen't?

It's not supported; it's not tagged VLAN (802.1q etc.) it's just port based VLAN.
