More than 10 port forwards? was created by thecheekymonkey
Hi there, have recently started using draytek routers, very impressed, however one thing that confuses me is, i`m only allowed to formward 10 ports, even on latest firmware and 3 different routers, now i presume there must be a way to forward more etc etc, hence the post here.

basically, i have a company with 13 PC`s, we use radmin remote control to remote admin them, each PC has a static ip on the LAN, on the port forwarding page of the router i have them setup like this

RADMIN 192.168.1.1 PRIVATE PORT 4899 PUB PORT 601
RADMIN 192.168.1.2 PRIVATE PORT 4899 PUB PORT 602
RADMIN 192.168.1.3 PRIVATE PORT 4899 PUB PORT 603
RADMIN 192.168.1.4 PRIVATE PORT 4899 PUB PORT 604
RADMIN 192.168.1.5 PRIVATE PORT 4899 PUB PORT 605
RADMIN 192.168.1.6 PRIVATE PORT 4899 PUB PORT 606
RADMIN 192.168.1.7 PRIVATE PORT 4899 PUB PORT 607
RADMIN 192.168.1.8 PRIVATE PORT 4899 PUB PORT 608
RADMIN 192.168.1.9 PRIVATE PORT 4899 PUB PORT 609
RADMIN 192.168.1.10 PRIVATE PORT 4899 PUB PORT 610

but thats it, to connect to the other machines i have to start juggling it about.

can i forward more than 10 ports? if not why not? or is there a better way of doing it? coming from using linksys routers flashed with DDWRT firmwares, it seems a bit of a backwards step in this regard, as ddwrt will give me literlally as many ports as i care to setup.

cheers in advance,

On the port redirection page, click the little link that says "11-20" below the table?

LOL.

many thanks, how stupid do i feel :D

however in my defense, the router that kicked all this off has a seriously old firmware on it, and does only have 10 port options to redirect, however my router which has latest on will give me more than 10.

cant update the firmware on the old one until shutdown period.

many thanks,.

If you are doing a lot of admin on the remote site, it's easier to setup a VPN from either your local PC or your router (if it supports it) so that you are seen as connected directly to the remote LAN.

You can then see every machine on the LAN using their direct IP addresses so no more forwarding + there's no ports open for the world at large to probe.
