MLPPP with 2 'Vigor 120's to PPPoA ISP

I am trying to set-up an MLPPP connection using 2 Vigor 120s to my PPPoA ISP (Nildram UK) account that supports MLPPP ADSL bonding.

I've tried using the MLPPP variants of Tomato and OpenWRT, and my latest attempt (because I thought it was easier to debug) is Ubuntu 9.10.

With a multilink enabled kernel driver and pppd daemon, and multilink option set in the ISP configuration files for both modems, both ppp links should be joined in a single bundle, but there are two separate ppp devices being created (ppp0 and ppp1).

From what I can understand, the problem must be that both 'ppp' connections are sending different endpoint discriminators during the negotiation phase. According to the pppd(8) man page, by default the endpoint discriminator sent should be the MAC address of the first ethernet interface of the local system, and I set the WAN MAC address of both Vigor 120s to be the same.

Could it be the Vigor 120 PPPoE to PPPoA bridging that's preventing this from working?

Anyone has had any experience with MLPPP and PPPoA ISPs using Vigor 120s?

Thanks in advance for any advice regarding this matter.
