I've written a little app that listens to syslog messages and shows the connection status of a Vigor ADSL router in the system tray. It was written in VB.NET and requires .NET Framework 2.0
It's been tested with a Vigor 2710n on Win XP Pro - if anyone is willing to test on other routers/OS grab the download and let me know how you get on.
Remember to enable Syslog on your router, specifying the IP of your PC and port 514 (standard syslog port). Windows will ask if you want to unblock the application when it runs first time, click Unblock. The icon in the system tray is of a green 'thumbs up' when connected, amber when connecting and red when not connected or not heard from the router for a while. Double click or right click Show Details to show connection details window. Right click and choose Router Web Page to launch default browser at router IP. Place in Startup folder to start on boot.
Any coders wanting to look at the source, just ask.
