NAT Loopback was created by weehappypixie
Hi,

Please can someone let me know how I can access my own server hosted on my LAN by it's public hostname from my LAN.

I have a Synology NAS that I have configured for web access on the normal port 80. My Vigor 2820vn management ports have been changed from the defaults. I have registered a domain name and SSL. The port redirection is configured to use one of my public IP's and pass to teh private IP on the LAN.

I can access the server via its hostname outside of my LAN, ie at work or my bro's etc but if I try to access it from inside my LAN it fails.

At work I have to configure the NAT loopback with our SonicWALL to do the same thing but the Vigor dont have an option to do that.

I can access it via its internal IP however as its using SSL I get errors as I am not using the hostname.

Any ideas guys?

If you had your own internal DNS server then that could solve your problem.

Or, could you have a few Hosts files on your PC and load one when on Synology NAS LAN which would resolve the hostname to the local IP?

Regards,

Neal.

Cheers nealuk,

I dont run my own dns at home and the use of host files is a solution for the normal desktop pcs but the laptops are a prob as I use them at work too.

Would be easier if Draytek could fix the NAT loopback option.

What firmware has the router got on it? The 3.3.3 firmware release notes mention that they correct some issues with NAT loopback

I have tried the 3.3.3 and currently trying a 3.3.4 beta to cure another fault.
