Vigor 2820 - NetBIOS is accessible through WAN was created by limes102
Hiyah,
I had file sharing enabled, and did a port scan on myself to find that the NetBIOS and RPC port's are open.
I'm not sure if this is worth looking into, although after I turned off USB file sharing the port was closed
Just thought I'd let people know in case it is a potential security issue.
Thanks
Aaron

I have seen this as well. I have added several firewall rules to block NETBIOS in and our of the network. This is why I do not use this feature as it is not secure.

Well, I'm glad it's not me. I've just disabled the feature completely. Hopefully DrayTek will fix this, so that the router feels secure again.
Thanks

LOL, I had a panic at the weeking when I did a port scan from GRC.com it also said RPC and NETBIOS ports were open, However on closer inspection it was the USB samba service in the router which was exposing itself to the whole world, not my network PCs. I turned off the Samba server and all was well.

Yeah, I don't think it's actually a big security issue.
Well... Supposing you're not using it as a NAS, which is a bit of a strange thing to use a router for anyway

same experiance - disabled Samba to close the ports...
however what is slightly more worrying is that I firewalled the ports on the router but they were still showing as open!
