We have 6 users off site. We want 3 on 1 dsl line and 3 on another, hence the 2 drayteks. We also want them to be able to file share so we are thinking of plugging them both in 2 a 16 port switch.

For this to work i think we would have to make both routers on different default gateways but how do you do this once you disable the dhcp server?

You have 2 options:

1. Use a single 2820 for both lines, with rules to decide which machines use which DSL line.

2. Use seperate routers, and give each PC a fixed IP address, with 3 using 1 router for their gateway and 3 the other.

Or are you talking about 6 users connecting by VPN?
If that were the case, then use a single 2820, and get 3 users to connect to the IP of your first line, and 3 to connect to the IP of your second line.

Both options 1 and 2 are options.
With the option 2 senario im struggling to find the correct setting to change the default gateway. Once you disable dhcp the option disapears

You need to change the TCP settings on each machine.
Give them a fixed IP address, and set the relevant gateway in there.
You cannot do it in the router(s) as the PC needs to know which one to connect to.

Control Panel > network connection > Local Area Network
Select Properties, and find TCP/IP in the items list.
Select it and click Properties.
Now set up an IP / Mask / gateway on each PC

(I really have to say that option 1 would be my preferred route though - then you can stick with DHCP and can easily change the lines in use if your demands change)

With option 1 are you talking about static routes or a different rule that i cant see?
For my first test i have opted to try a 2820 with a 2800 configured and plugged in the wan2 port (hopefully asking as a modem).

Setup like this you can use Load Balancing (WAN -> Load -Balance Policy) on the 2820 and set the IP of the first three machines to use WAN1 and the IP of the other three machines to use WAN2. If you enable failover then even if that WAN port goes down then all six would continue to work on the live WAN port.
