2820Vn reduces range of Devolo HomePlugs

We had a BT HomeHub. Devolo HomePlugs (dLAN 200) work fine with this router and gave us a good distance coverage.

We are trying to move to the 2820Vn router, but we found that with the Draytek router, the HomePlug range is much reduced (may be just 1/2 the distance) - which effectively renders them useless. Has anyone come across this problem and is there a solution?

It seems the solution is quite simple. The HomePlug was originally approx. 6" from the router - only had a short Ethernet cable at the time. I got a longer cable and plug the HomePlug about 6' away and it's now working fine.

That's really bizarre. Did you have the dlan on the same multiblock as the vigor or was it on a separate socket?

I'm using a dlan right next to a 2920 and see no obvious interaction. They both have their own sockets tho, and the 2920 is additionally plugged in to a surge-protected powerstrip.

Could be that the PSU from the vigor is somehow making some noise on the mains which is upsetting the dlan.

It is recommended that the MINIMUM cable length between 2 devices is 1 metre. If the cable is shorter than this it can cause problems, because the amount of time it takes the signal to reach the other device is too short, and you get lots of missed packets.
Cables shorter than this are intended as patch cables, where you are patching a switch to a remote network port, not for joining 2 devices.

So just make sure that the cable between your devices is AT LEAST 1 metre long.
