Blocking URL's was created by paul.lewis
How do you block specific URL's on a Vigor router? I have been reading the manual and looking at the router control panels. It doesn't seem to allow me to type in a URL anywhere as the fields are always "greyed out".
All I want to do is block saywww.dodgywebsite.com .
Was it an error in the firmware? I know I haven't got the latest... but I don't want to load up firmware if it's not the problem.
Thanks.
Model Name : Vigor2110n
Firmware Version: 3.3.2.3
Build Date/Time : Feb 25 2010 20:41:37

There's a guide here on how to set that up:

The CSM >> URL Content Filter Profile page has the fields greyed out, so I can't add anything to Box 1.
After much trying, I've given up.

I'm not quite sure what you mean, are you making the keyword objects under the objects setting menu first? because the newer routers have an object based firewall (to do groups etc), you need to make the keywords first to apply those in a URL filter profile.

I set up an object, under "Objects Settings"; "Keyword"
I set up a CSM under URL (which has the BLOCK/PASS options greyed out)
I set up a Filter under Firewall
I set up URL content Filter under Firewall, General Setup.
All this to block a single URL. And it still doesn't block it. In fact one option I set managed to block everything.
I've been in IT since 1979 and this is one of the worst cases of "usability" I have seen. Especially since there seems to be no definitive instructions or examples. Very reminiscent of some Microsoft products.
I like the Draytek products, but this firewall setup is too convoluted to my mind. I've dumped the idea of setting anything up now and gone back to factory defaults.

That sounds like on the URL profile you've got it configured as "Both: Pass" which means it's working as a whitelist which will block any sites that aren't in the keyword list. Setting it Both: Block should fix it.
