2820 network interfaces "pausing" sporadically

I've just thrown it on mine now and notice that the modem code is different - from 211011_A to 232201_A.

Throughput seems to be down a fair bit too - from around 16mbit to 10mbit.

I'm curious, how come you had such old modem firmware on before? Mine's had 232201_A on it ever since release 3.3.3?

Like an idiot, I didn't take a stats snapshot before I upgraded to RC2A but I just backgraded to 3.3.4.1 official release and this is how it looks (same modem firmware of course)

Slight difference but not much... (rubbish transfer rates at this time of night...)

I think the different firmwares have been adapted for different line types (i.e. some may work better on longer lines than others). Though my line is short and good quality.

I notice that with our older firmware (and modem code), that DS Interleave Depth and US Interleave Depth were set at zero, but on 3.3.5_RC2b, they're all set to values of >0.

Not sure of the implication of this?

Mine is between 600-700metres so sounds similar to yours. It's very frustrating not being on an LLU exchange and thereby being able to take full advantage of such a short line.

Sorry, maybe I should have said I know the general principals behind interleaving ... but generally expect it to be controlled by the DSLAM in the exchange. Indeed, my router is reporting 'fast' rather than 'interleave' - so shouldn't these values be zero?

But there again, it's been a long day and I'm probably missing something fundamental here!

That's a very good point you make and frankly, I don't have a sensible answer for that! (must admit I missed that in our table of figures...)
