I have the both a ZTE MF626 & Huawei E1752 3G unlocked USB dongles.

Tried using them with a 2820 router ( I have 3, two at 3.3.3 and one trial upgraded to 3.5.1)

With firmware 3.3.3 neither are recognised. Just tried 3.5.1 and the Huawei does but the MF626 doesn't, despite the docs say the MF626 is supported with no mention of the E1752 !

Anyone have any ideas or thoughts on this ?

Which MF626 and which E1752?
With the MF626 from T-mobile, that's only supported from 3.3.4.1 onwards, if it doesn't auto detect, reboot the router from the web interface.

With the E1752, you'll need to enter "wan modem force on" in the router's telnet interface.

They are both actually Movistar as I live in Spain

Nothing works on the MF626 yet. From syslog it seems to be recognised, but no joy beyond that on either 3.3.3 or 3.5.1 (haven't got a router with 3.3.4 as I tried it and it was a complete disaster so downgraded them all)

The E1752 works happily on 3.5.1 and does not need any special commands !

I guess the suppliers are using bespoke firmware, though they are both recognised easily on any of my standard linux boxes.

Something odd is certainly going on.

Ah right, I dunno why the MF626 wouldn't be working for you but try the wan modem force on command and this command in telnet then plug the modem in:
"wan modem pipe 84 85 04"
That should allow it to detect / work but the pipe setting will be lost each time the router is restarted.

On 3.3.3 the wan modem pipe command makes no difference.

On 3.3.5.1 it does. Unfortunately, with the dodgy power supply round this way, you never know when it's going to go or trip the router so having to enter that every time is a non starter !

Interestingly the MF626 shows a connection speed of 360000 but the Huawei reports 720000 which I guess is 3G+ ???

Yeah the MF626 is the lower speed HSDPA (up to 3.6mbps) while the E1752 can do the higher speeds.
