Hi

i have a 2820vn router connected with talktalk and i have a 2800vg router connected with bt.
i have connected 2800vg router to the 2820vn one.

2820 is using default address ending 1.1 and 2800vg router is set to 4.1.
i have set up wan 2 and is showing as dhcp client and the static or dynamic ip is enabled and obtain an ip address is set to automatic. ppoe is disabled.

in online status on the 2820vn i can see the wan2 is connected and mode is DHCP client but i expected the up speed and down speed to add up to the total amount of the connected speed that both routers are connected to the internet but it only shows the 2820vn routers connection speed.

is this correct and have i got these set up correctly please. i can't see how i would know if the 2800vg router is actually being used.

any help would be appreciated.

the 2820 isn't going to know the dsl connection speed of the 2800, how would it ?
If you look at the nat sessions table under diagnostics you should see which sessions are using which dsl line.

how would it ?

sorry i am not so savey with this.

i presumed that with 2 internet connections and connected into one router my speed would be double, this seems not to be the case.

i can see however after looking at the nat sessions some of the lan ip's have been using the wan2 connection. can i presume that all is working well looking at those stats.

As far as the 2820 is concerned the wan2 connection via the 2800 is just an ethernet connection, it knows nothing of the dsl modem on the wan interface of the 2800.

The total bandwidth (wan1 + wan2) can't be used by a single session, each session will get pushed down one of the wan connections, not spread out over the 2. So for example if you were engaged in a large ftp download (and the ftp client just initated a single connection) this session would just use one of either wan1 or wan2. However starting another download would use the other wan connection, so in this case you'd get twice the total bandwith.
