Vigor 2800G dropping line was created by ukzone99
Hi Guys...
I have a Vigor 2800G router that keeps dropping adsl connection.
My current Firmware version is: 2.8.2 Adsl Firmware version: E.38.2.23 Annex A
I read somewhere that there is a firmware upgrade that may help to overcome this problem.
Does anybody know anything about this.
Any advise will be very welcome.
Thanks

Around this time last year I had a 2800 struggling with ADSL 2 + with Opal. It ran for years with Nildram G.DMT and was rock solid.
The connection is set to connect deliberately at G.DMT as anything else would at best fall over every couple of hours.
I spend a whole Sunday on site, trying the 'alt' and beta firmwares, but found the 2.8.2 "standard" firmware E.38.2.23 to be most reliable.
Perhaps at the exchange a recent "upgrade" has triggered similar issues for you.
Regards,
Neal

Hi Neil...
Many thanks for taking the time to respond to me.
My Modulation is set to multimode.
Is that OK, or should it be set to G.DMT ???
My ISP is Zen Internet.
I'm not very well up on adsl connection although I have been involved for a number of years.

Hi John,
it sounds to me, that when in Multimode (meaning automatic) is selected the 2800 is connecting at ADSL2 - I know Zen offer this on some exchanges / lines.
You should be able to confirm this from the Status screen.
Deliberately selecting G.DMT should bring back the reliability.

Neal

Hi nealuk...
Many thanks for your reply.
I have now changed the Modulation to: G.DMT.
I'll give this a try and see what happens.
Thanks,
