Vigor 2820 sync issues on a faster connection was created by shabbaranks
Hi All,
Initially when I purchased our Draytek 2820 our line speed was sub 2meg so it was reccomended I downgrade the firmware (cant remember which version). We have now moved premesis and have a much better faster connection. When I connect the router to our dsl line the sync speed is totally incorrect its showing "2431372" which it should be 6 Meg. Also the error rate is through the roof.
Can anyone reccomend which firmware I should change to?
Thanks

Use the latest from the download section.
Also, are you on ADSL 1 or ADSL 2 at your new place. Are you using Multimode?

I think it might be to do with the redcare on the line... I have gone directly to the BT test socket with a different router and it worked fine. I'll investigate further

As far as I was aware, you can't have ADSL and Red Care on the same line as they corrupt each other. This is what I was told about a year ago by BT when we asked.

It may well be that the Redcare Alarm (think of it in telephone terms, if it was plugged in to a microfilter it would be going in the 'Phone' frequency range) is wired on to the bottom half / detachable faceplate section of the Openreach NTE5 Master Socket as a telephone extension.
If this is the case, the Alarm won't have a built in Microfilter - so you should think about getting a hardwired microfilter solution. Example inline filter for your Alarm:http://www.clarity.it/telecoms/adsl_hardwired.htm or depending on if your ADSL equipment is near enough to the Master Socket then you may be able to go straight for a Centralised Filter such as: http://www.clarity.it/xcart/product.php?productid=16134&cat=262&page=1 or http://www.adslnation.com/phpapps/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=105 or http://cpc.farnell.com/pressac/60-10705-xxxxx/adsl-centralised-filter-splitter/dp/TE04368
I've solved an alarm issue with the hardwired filter before. Regards, Neal.

Thanks guys, I was already onto this. When I said redcare I actually meant dualcom and vodafone offer a solution which I am trying to sort
