2830n vs plus vs dual band???????????? was created by robster
Hi All
Sorry for what may be a dumb question.
But I am considering buying a Vigor 2830n
However I am seeing three models when I search and no clear differentiation between them!
I see the following:-
2830n
2830n dual band
2830n Plus
Now I can guess the middle one but what about the plus?
Is this covered anywhere?
Robin

Yes, Draytek specialise in confusing model ranges and even more confusing documentation. But at least the routers are good.
In terms of radio (wifi) options, there are 3 choices:
2830 - No wireless
2830n - Single band (2.4GHz) 802.11n compatible radio
2830n Plus - Switchable dual band (2.4GHz OR 5.8Ghz) 802.11n compatible radio (note this is not a true dual band radio, as it only operates on a single band, depending on whether you select 2.4 or 5.8GHz operation. Very disappointing, especially considering the price premium! ).
There are also two variants of the last two options (2830Vn and 2830Vn Plus) which include 2 analogue phone ports for SIP-based VoIP telephony, but are otherwise the same as the "non-VoIP" models.
To add to the confusion, when Draytek launched the 2830 in the UK, I understand that there was no single band model and the dual band model was branded 2830n! Since around the start of this month all models have been available, so as long as you're not buying old stock the units should be identified as above.
Hope I've got this right as it is indeed confusing!
